Knight Library Map Collection

The Knight Library Map Collection has over 300,000 individual maps and 3000 atlases. The geographic focus is on Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. However, we also have extensive collections of select other regions.  We have both older maps and atlases and contemporary maps in our collection.

Most of the maps and atlases are in publicly accessible areas and available any time Knight Library is open. Our older and more fragile maps and atlases require library staff to retrieve them for you.

Maps located in Folded Maps circulate for a one week period.  All other maps in the collection must be used in the library. Most atlases circulate. Overhead and Flatbed scanners are available for you to use if you need to make a copy.  If you need to use the maps in teaching, take them to another location on campus for large format scanning, or use them outside of the Libraries for other approved purposes, contact us to make an exception. Current faculty, staff, and students who are not able to come to the Eugene UO Campus may request to have materials scanned or delivered to an off-campus library for their use.  Contact Map Library staff.  Scanning fees may apply.
