This graphic represents the virtuous cycle of interoperability facilitated by open, persistent digital identifiers such as ORCID, but also digital object identifiers (DOIs), which are widely used in publishing and data. Researchers, publishers, employers, and funders are able to engage with each other through established channels of connection and collection where authorship, affiliation, and awards can be asserted in both directions, if the researcher chooses to add a publisher, employer, or funder as a trusted organization. Once this connection is established, ORCID data can be used to complete a variety of forms, logins, and disclosures with a single click.
