UO Libraries Tiny Galleries Exhibitions

The Tiny Galleries 2025-26 Exhibition Proposal Deadline is:

May 16, 2025 by 11:30pm.

The University of Oregon Libraries Tiny Galleries Team seeks proposals for 5 site-specific installations from UO students that build upon and respond to what you are learning through your coursework and research at the University of Oregon.

We have these exhibition spaces available for Tiny Galleries:

• Knight Library: Three Historic 1937 repurposed phone booths for 3D installations
• Design Library (within Lawrence Hall): Two flat display cases for 2D works. Cases are enclosed with glass to protect your work. Cases measure 7'2" x 2'10" and 7'9" x 2'10".

 We invite proposals for installations that showcase an interesting project, transform the phone booths into immersive or interactive experiences, display your own creative works in a traditional gallery format, or other engaging experiences.

Successful applicants will revitalize the Knight Library entrance halls and Design Library Relaxation Area and provide a unique opportunity for you to reflect on and share what you’re learning, express artistic ideas, engage more deeply with the broader campus community, and contribute to academic discourse.

Award

The Tiny Galleries Implementation Team will select 5 winners. Each winner will receive:  

• Knight Galleries Phone Booths: Three winners will each receive a $1500 award
• Design Library Flat Cases: Two winners will each receive a $600 award
• Catered Tiny Galleries Opening reception open to the public 
• Professional photography of your Tiny Gallery 
• Persistent link to Tiny Gallery photographs for your resume archived in Scholars’ Bank, the institutional repository for the University of Oregon

Timeline

• May 16, 2025:  Deadline to submit Tiny Galleries proposals  

• May 20, 2025: Proposal review begins and continues until winners are identified  

• May 23, 2025: Winners will be notified

• September 9-15 and 22-26, 2025: Curators install exhibits  

• October 13-15, 2025: Tiny Galleries Opening (exact date TBD)  

• June 1-12, 2026: Tiny Galleries uninstalled* 

*Curators may elect to have their Tiny Galleries uninstalled before June 1, 2026, but no earlier than December 12, 2025.
