Research Guides for Music Performers

This guide contains specialized research guides for music performance, organized by instrument or instrument family.  These guides are intended to help performing musicians do the following:

  • locate repertoire for your instrument/area, using LC call numbers and subject headings
  • find resources to help with writing program notes, including:
    • scholarly research and published professional correspondence about your performance area
    • specialized reference tools such as dictionaries and bibliographies for your instrument/area
  • find the major professional organizations for performers of your instrument or repertoire
