By the end of this module, you will be able to:
There are several ways to find resources available through the library, and how you start should depend on the kind of research you are doing and the types of resources that you need. Take a look at these quick tips:
Use LibrarySearch to find books and ebooks available through the library. LibrarySearch helps you find materials available through UO and a network of other libraries. You can use it to get started finding journal articles published in your field or discipline, but it is just a starting place for this.
To find specialized resources in your discipline - including peer-reviewed journal articles - use subject databases. These allow you to search for information only in your particular field. There are databases for all of the different subject areas, from education to art history to chemistry.
If you don't know which database to use, start with our research guides. These will point you to the best tools to use to search for information in your discipline.
Not sure which database to start with? Try using Academic Search Premier, which sources for information in multiple disciplines:
Multi-disciplinary database providing indexing, abstracts, and selected full text for peer reviewed/scholarly articles, magazines, trade publications, and newspapers in all fields.
