University of Oregon's Open Access Policy for Faculty

In May 2021 the UO Faculty Senate passed the following Open Access Policy:

UO Faculty shall henceforth make a journal-allowed1 version of their articles openly accessible after publication2 following the guidelines3 of each scholarly journal. This may include submission to Scholars' Bank, a discipline specific open access repository, or publication in an open access journal. Library staff will work with faculty to support these efforts.

All works by UO faculty, staff, and students are welcomed for submission to Scholars' Bank4 in accordance with guidelines provided by publishers in order to improve access and dissemination.

1 This may be a preprint or submitted version (before peer review, copyediting, and layout and design), accepted version (after peer review, before layout and design), published version (after peer review, after layout and design).

2 If the journal requires an embargo, the embargo will be set within Scholars' Bank at the time of submission and release at the time of expiration.

3 These guidelines may be found documented within the Sherpa Romeo open access policy database https://v2.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo/
