Finding Data & Statistics

A few important notes on the Statistical Abstract:

• Formerly published by the US Census Bureau, but produced commercially since 2012, due to federal budget cuts . However, most of the statistics still come from the federal government.
• It is available in print going back to 1879.
• See the 2012 and earlier online editions from the Bureau of Census here.
• Note the sources of the tables -- this is a good way to find more statistics on the same topic.

► Remember that annual statistical publications and other references should give the sources of their statistical tables, and you can look up those sources to find more data.
