Locating the Statute

Looking up the statute enables you to find the session law. Bracketed information at the end of the statute text tells you the history of the statute. It indicates when a statute was enacted, amended, or repealed. Look up your statute in the current version of the Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) at the Legislative website.

Example

ORS 480.341

At the end of ORS 480.341, in brackets (highlighted in the image above), you will find the statute's history: [2015 c.525 §2; 2017 c.207 §1]

This statute was enacted in 2015 by Oregon Laws chapter 525 section 2 and amended in 2017 by Oregon Laws chapter 207 section 1.

The Oregon Revised Statutes are published every two years. You may need to consult the “Statutes Affected by Measures” tables under ORS Documents to determine if your statute was affected by recent changes to the law that may not be reflected in the available version of the Oregon Revised Statutes.
