LL.M. Research Guide

Use Westlaw to search for articles in law reviews and other law journals. In the Browse box, under All Content, click on Secondary Sources. In the left hand facets, find the Publication Type box.  Within the box, select Law Reviews and Journals. Type search terms in the main search box.

Search for cultural property dispute. You can sort by date or relevance. You can also search within your results, top left, for “Getty” to narrow your results. Make sure you “Apply Filters” to run the search.

For the pdf of the articles, use HeinOnline. You can either search across the database or search by library (Law Journal Library). Because searching on Westlaw is generally easier than HeinOnline, Hein is more often used to get pdfs of articles when you already know the citation.

Other Law Databases

The databases you use depend on your topic, so it is a good idea to consult with a librarian who can direct you to the most useful resources. Send an email to Kelly or the Law Reference Desk to schedule an appointment.

Go to Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law and search for cultural property ownership.  Select the first result, "Cultural Heritage." The article gives you a background on the topic, relevant legal instruments, and a bibliography of scholarship on the topic.
