Getting Started Using UO Libraries for First Year and Transfer Students

This guide is intended for new UO undergraduates and offers an overview of library resources, spaces, and services that you can take advantage of as a student.

There is a Space Here for Everyone

In each of the UO Libraries, you can find spaces where you can study, learn, and relax. There are quiet areas, learning commons where talking and collaboration are encouraged, small and large group study rooms, and unique research and learning spaces like a makerspace and a Virtual Reality Lab. We even have a Gaming Center, where you can drop in to play on your own or with friends.

Here is some info about some of the more unique spaces in our Libraries that you may want to take advantage of as a student. These are just a few of them - you can also browse a full list of rooms and study spaces

What About Study Space?

You can find a wide range of study spaces in the library, including quiet areas and common spaces where you are free to collaborate and talk. You can also reserve study rooms - some for large groups and some for individuals or groups of two. For most rooms, UO students can reserve up to six hours per week in 30-minute blocks, up to two hours in a single day.

Book a Space

It is best to reserve rooms and study spaces ahead of time, so that you can be sure to have access to them when you need them.
