For an effective job search, it's important to know the organizations out there. You'll need this type of information when you're looking for potential employers, when you're preparing job applications, and when you're interviewing and want to showcase your knowledge.

Mergent Intellect This link opens in a new window
Mergent Intellect is as effective tool for basic research on domestic and international businesses, both public and private. Information in Intellect includes recent financial performance, industry affiliation, number of employees, key competitors, and executive profiles.
Business Source Complete This link opens in a new window
BSC is a business news & research database that includes both academic research and professional news sources. This is a good tool for finding information on organizations' new products/services, executive interviews, areas of operations, and areas of controversy.
Some of the contents will be similar to web searching, but here, it's easier to limit your searches by business, time range, and other topics.
Uniworld Online This link opens in a new window
Directory of more than 20,000 multinational firms in 20 countries, including contact information, headquarters, subsidiaries, affiliates, and job posting information. Directory is searchable by industry sectors, # of employees, annual revenue, and location.
PitchBook This link opens in a new window
Pitchbook is a private investment research database. For job seekers, it's extremely useful for locating information on startups and VC/PE investing firms, as well as for learning about emerging industries you might be interested in.
