Use more general terms for books than the more specific terms needed for searching for articles.
LibrarySearch finds articles and many other formats besides books.
- To limit to books, click on 'e-books' and/or 'print books' under 'Resource Type' on the left side. NOTE:
- You may have to click on "More options" to see books.
You may get more or better results if you do a Subject Heading search for a broad term. To do a search by Subject
- click on the subject heading links under 'Details' for a book that you like, to get more like it.
- Here is a small selection of potentially useful subject headings:
- Executive power - United States
- Political questions and judicial power
- Presidents - United States - [subheading, e.g.: "- Case studies", "- Election", "- Public opinion"]
- Separation of powers - United States
- United States Supreme Court - Officials and employees - Selection and appointment (seriously, this is the subject heading for the Supreme Court nomination process)
- War and emergency powers - United States
- ...and of course the name of the particular president you are researching. Searching the name as a Subject rather than keyword should increase the relevance of your results.
