Getting and Using Images:

Flickr and Google Image Search are great places for finding images if you are not using your own.  Many images are copyrighted and therefore most people would not legally be able to copy and use them.  However, Flick and Google provide a way of searching for Creative Commons (CC) licensed images that can be used.

  • In Flickr use the search bar to find images on your topic then look on the left hand margin just under the search box for the Any License tab. Click on it and select the Creative Commons choice.  You should then be able to download the image. The most common requirement is just to make sure you give attribution to the photographer/license holder in your project (bibliography).
  • Using Google Image Search, first search for your topic. Next look for the Tools tab about top center of page.  Click on it, then select the Usage Rights tab that appears below and left of the previous tab and select  Creative Commons Licenses.
