Databases covering many subjects

Specific Databases by subject

Human Physiology

Need a different subject?

Go to the Databases A-Z list for options for Anthropology, History, etc.
Also take a look at the Research Guide for your subject area to find appropriate databases and other resources.

Using one article to find others

If you've already found one great article on your topic, you can use it to find others.

To find newer articles, find the articles that cite your article, using either Web of Science (not just for science) or Google Scholar.

Web of Science

Search for your article by title:

Title Search in Web of Science

After you click Search, find the article in the results list if there's more than one result and look to the right for the Times cited indicator:

Times Cited

Click on the number to get a list of the articles that cite this one.

Google Scholar

Search for your article by title:

google scholar title search

Once you found your article, look below for Cited by and click on that to see the newer article that cite this one:

google scholar article result

To find older articles, look at the references list for the article you already have.

Connect to the UO Network from Off Campus

1. Library Proxy Service

Links on library webpages (including  in LibrarySearch, Browzine, and Databases A-Z) run through a proxy server which verifies you are a UO member, and are eligible to access library materials. When you click on a proxied link for the first time in the session, you are prompted to enter your DuckID and password to access the resource.

2. VPN (Virtual Private Network) Service

For certain library resources, using the UO's VPN service will be necessary.  VPN is not necessary for Canvas or LibrarySearch access.

If the proxied links or bookmarklet aren't working for you, the VPN lets you join the UO's network from off-campus. Using the VPN slows your internet speed, so only connect when you need to access resources, and disconnect once you're done.
