WR 123: Politics of Sports

The WR 123: Politics of Sports guide contains sports related library databases, journals and web sources you can use for your research papers.

Introduction

Now that you have done some background research, understand different perspectives on your topic, and have a couple of new questions that can help guide your research you are ready to begin looking for articles in library databases (think of these like search engines for scholarly literature).

The University Libraries provides access to hundreds of databases, that are only accessible through our homepage, which contain articles from newspapers, magazines, and scholarly journals. The benefit to using library databases when researching compared to Google is that you will not hit pay walls, your results will be more specific to what you need, and you can refine your searches using filters.

Below is a list of library databases that are either multidisciplinary (contain journals covering all subjects) and subject-specific (contain journals covering only a single subject area).

  • Begin by searching a multidisciplinary database, like Academic Search Premier, to get a wider range of articles.
  • Then search subject-specific databases, like SPORTDiscus, to locate articles that fill in gaps, or are meet very specific needs.
